From ANDRAS JONES: Lodge 49 is the kind of TV people who dig Radio8Ball are going to love, if you don’t already. In this segment I am joined on the line by L49’s creator, author JIM GAVIN, to discuss my obsession with his show. Their second season begins on AMC on my birthday, August 12th, and I’ve been working on building a Radio8Ball episode with them since last fall. The wait was worth it and the opportunity to spend the first twenty minutes or so of this session just asking Jim questions about his intentions for the show, its connection to his written work, and the psychic space it shares with the Pop Oracle, was pure joy for me.
This being our season finale as I devote the next couple of months to putting out my new record “All You Get” I chose to make material from this album our oracle fodder, and I even wrote a little song called Lodge 49 to cue up my question for The Pop Oracle. Its answer lands an immediate sync with a line (uttered by David Ury) in season 2 of the series. And here, as I’m writing this I see that today’s randomly chosen Pop Oracle song from the R8B App is from my old album Mr. Jones & The Hard Feelings. Well, I guess it’s time to go.
