From ANDRAS JONES: We come to the close of our episode with JOE BOURDET and his friends with Joe’s own Seger-inspired question, answered by his song (Joe’s not Bob’s), “Mantra”. These hours in the studio with Joe were a joy. Getting to geek out about Lowell (and Inara) George, The Rockford Files, K-Tel Records, Pete Townshend demos, under-appreciated Kinks albums, and bushy 70’s mustaches was my kind of good time. And now that good time is yours to enjoy in its fullness. Starting tomorrow, we’re tributing The Kinks with Bart Davenport, Colleen Green & Willie Wisely. So, if you haven’t already, press subscribe on your pod provider next to our icon and get one of these every day.
POP ORACLE Song of The Day (May 8, 2019): BETSY GRACE “Hot People”
Mantra
I’m balanced here, as if on a clothesline
And although I fall, I easily find
I return to the mantra, that’s tuned to my mind
And with meditation, I’m leaving behind
Sense gratification, for self-realization
Sense gratification, for self-realization
As far a I can go
Although it may be slow, lifetimes, developing
Like oceans pitch and roll
Effortlessly controlled, heart and soul, enveloping
To break down barriers, the more the merrier
With our eyes closed, to view the cosmos
Thought’s will interfere, with intuitive knowing
But they’ll all disappear, as this faculty’s growing
I was given a mantra, tuned to my mind
And with meditation, I’m leaving behind
Sense gratification, for self-realization
Sense gratification, for self-realization
As far a I can go
Although it may be slow, lifetimes, developing
Like oceans pitch and roll
Effortlessly controlled, heart and soul, enveloping
To break down barriers, the more the merrier
With our eyes closed, to view the cosmos
