Sarah Kramer
From ANDRAS JONES: SARAH KRAMER enters the realm of The Pop Oracle in the last week of our sojourn toward spring. She was blown into my path by some kind of wind. Maybe it was a bayou wind. I don’t know. All I know is that she and her friends brought a lot of light and laughs to our proceedings, and just a little bit of heaviness, which is good because Sarah is a heavy cat (just dig her tone blowing trumpet on the theme) and so are her compatriots. Sarah wants folks to know that she is honored to have been recently endorsed by Best American Craftsman horns who hooked her up with their Portland model trumpet.

BAYOU WIND

Intro. (4 bars)
Verse:
I’m hopin’ for the rain
To trickle down again
All over my skin
In the bayou wind
American Can
The Spanish moss in hand
And I’m on Esplanade
In a little park on Mystery Street in the shade
Seashells and Mardi Gras beads
In the sidewalk with the seeds
That fall down from the trees
And roll in the fracks while I’m on my knees
Don’t need no umbrella
No guitar neither
I’m just fine
Enjoying the time
Chorus:
Ooh nah nah, hey mamma, mmm
Ooh nah nah, hey mamma, ooh
Verse:
‘Cuz this is home to me
Here in the Crescent City
Even in poverty and all the rest
You’ll find humanity at it’s best
In comes the second line
From Claiborne and Orleans
All the way down to Rampart Street
Toward the river with all your dreams
There’s the Faubourg Marigny
Frenchman Street a destiny
Everybody’s somebody and I’m home
Chorus:
Ooh nah nah, hey mamma, mmm
Ooh nah nah, hey mamma, ooh
(Vamps/fades out)
