From ANDRAS JONES: Photographer JEAN CLAUDE DHIEN joins our Pop Oracle session with TIPHANIE DOUCET to explore their photographic collaboration and talk about his life as an image maker with Ethan Hawke‘s boots, Willem Daffoe’s fist, Olivia Luccardi‘s lips, 50 Cents’ eye, Nicolas Cage‘s finger and Matthew Modine; bloody, wet, and on fire. Let’s give him his wish and blow up his Instagram, shall we?
Today’s Pop Oracle song is one I wrote and demoed back in 1998, the year I started doing Radio8Ball. I once found myself on a bus with Tracy Chapman and pitched the song to her. She gave me her assistant’s e-mail but I don’t know if Tracy ever got the song. It’s one of several songs I’ve written that I think might make more sense sung by a woman. That was before I realized, while writing my book, that the part of me I thought was masculine was feminine and vice versa. This didn’t change me at all and yet, I was changed as we all are when we have a great realization about ourselves. After that I started telling people that I’m straight in a queer way. Most people don’t understand, which isn’t so bad when you get used to it. This may sound strange but it’s the only way to make an inner marriage work.
