From ANDRAS JONES: JHANELLE NEITA joins our Pop Oracle session with KODA CORVETTE and let me say right out front, I know nothing of these Gators of which she speaks. I generally try to keep a fearful distance from large aquatic reptiles AND big men trained to gang up on and attack the guy with the ball. As a dedicated holder of balls, such as the Radio8 one, and as a resident of the northwest, where alligators are far less prevalent than drunken men dressed as Seahawks, the second variety feel like a far more existential threat than those chomping monsters in the everglades. Which is to say, I don’t have much insight to share on this reading. But that’s the one of the great things about Radio8Ball, I am sure that someone who is less threatened by the game of football and those who revel in it than I, may find something truly insightful as regards this game they love. No judgement. I would do the same if the question were about a sport I irrationally enjoy, like baseball. And yet, my old friend Andy Shmushkin’s Pop Oracle song of the day does take a far less nuanced stance toward the whole meshuganah maelstrom of the dominant culture and paradigm in which all major sports are sadly intertwined and complicit.
