From ANDRAS JONES: BRITTA PHILLIPS is touring in Europe as this, her R8B episode, is released to the world. Lucky for her, these shows are “evergreen” as they say in the parlance of the podcast, which means that they are always here, always fresh. Of course, by this time in the session, thanks in part to the whiskey and the chicken (care of Dino Stamatopoulos) we weren’t quite as fresh as we were when we started this thing. What we lacked in freshness, we made up for in late night aliveness. The night was still young and there was more laughing and drinking in our future. Hanging in the Starburns lounge into the wee hours with Dino and Britta and Kaitlin and Gordon and Marshall is one of those convivial memories that’s going to stick with me. Not sure why. Maybe it was the cast of characters or my own exhaustion and joy at sitting and letting other people do the talking for a while. Maybe it was a contact high. I’m just glad I got to be there.
