JACK BOOHBAH
&
TAMMY T on KAOS
From ANDRAS JONES: I’m still buzzing from last week’s Radio8Ball tribute to Harry Nilsson with his sons Zak and Kiefo and, with a Radio8Vault on the horizon, I decided to give this trip through the archives a particularly Nilssonian bent. I hope you dig it. We begin with a session from February 2006 when Radio8Ball was on KAOS 89.3FM and I was doing the show with my co-host Tammy T. It’s always a bittersweet experience for me, listening back to shows on KAOS, knowing how things would go for us there. But this was two years before I would be harassed by Tammy, her partner Merwyn, and the KAOS programmers she was able to enlist in her campaign of terror because I said “no” to working with her. Two years before KAOS managemant, in response to my reporting the harassment, made up slanderous lies about me and canceled the show, claiming it no longer met the KAOS mission statement of providing programs that “are underrepresented in mainstream media”. I’ve spent a good portion of the last 10 years trying to get Evergreen, the college my father helped found, to give my case a real hearing but they and their representatives have refused. With all this as context a little Nilsson in the A.M. is just the right medicine, as is our musical divination with Jack Boohbah, who was trying to figure out what to name his group. We’ll hear more from them in an upcoming episode, along with RAE DAWN CHONG, MICHAEL SILVERBLATT, JIMM McIVER, DR. SUSAN FINKEL, PETER DAVID CONNELLY, GOD GOES TO DENVER SEEKING LOVE, JAMES WILLIAM HINDLE & BART DAVENPORT . For now, please enjoy the simple pleasures of yesteryear. We’ll be back with new original content next week featuring Gabriel Gordon who you may remember from our Joni Mitchell tribute.
