RADIO8BALL HOST ANDRAS JONES RELEASES VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “NATALIE WOOD SAID….” FROM HIS ALBUM ALL YOU GET COINCIDING WITH THE LATE MOVIE STAR’S BIRTHDAY ON JULY 20
The Video for Andras Jones’s New Song Explores the Weirdly Prophetic Amount of Screen Time Natalie Wood spent In, On, or Under Water LOS ANGELES, CA & OLYMPIA, WA (WEDNESDAY JULY 17, 2019) – “Natalie Wood said….it was enough to be sincere”. These lyrics from Andras Jones’s single “Natalie Wood said…” on his new LP All You Get (released August 8) reference a line from the film Rebel Without A Cause in which the teenage Natalie Wood starred opposite James Dean. The limits of the value of sincerity are at the heart of Jones’s new album All You Get, while the new video explores Wood’s life on film with a particular focus on the darkly prophetic aquatic themes in her filmography. The scene from Rebel appears, among many others from Wood’s films, interconnected with clips from Andras Jones’ own filmography (such as Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master and Far From Home with Drew Barrymore). The video reminds us of the breadth and depth of Wood’s life on film. From child actress in A Miracle on 34th Street to a teenager in West Side Story to a young liberated woman in Love With The Proper Stranger to an adult swinger in Bob, Carol, Ted & Alice, Wood’s screen credits are too many to mention and paint a generational picture that is worth exploring. Yet Jones’s video makes this case in just under 3 minutes and will have film nerds checking IMDB to identify the more obscure clips while adding favorites like The Searchers & Splendor In The Grass to their video queues. Released today, “Natalie Wood said…” coincides with Natalie Wood’s birthday celebration later this week on July 20, and accompanies a recent flurry of attention directed at her legacy. Along with the release of Jones’s single, Quentin Tarantino’s New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles will be celebrating Natalie Wood with a double feature of This Property Is Condemned and Gypsy ” on her birthday; the new Steven Spielberg production of West Side Story is currently in production which will surely prompt comparisons with the original; and Natalie Wood fans are eagerly awaiting a new Natalie Wood HBO documentary Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind from her daughter Natasha Gregson Wagner. Clearly, it’s time for a Natalie Wood renaissance, and Andras Jones’s song is the perfect dark jingle to get you in the mood. Andras Jones record release show in anticipation of “ALL YOU GET” is set for The Hotel Café on Thursday, July 25th at 10pm with Miranda Lee Richards and Sheriffs of Schroedingham. |
