From ANDRAS JONES: As we come to the close of our Pop Oracle sessions with ANYA MARINA I hope you’ve been following along with her web series and enjoying our musical divinations as much as I have. I don’t know about you but this has been one hell of a week for me. Julian Assange (and journalism in general) has had a worse week so I’m not complaining but it’s my job to follow the synchronicity wherever it may lead and that includes my own miniscule trials and tribulations. At the beginning of this episode I asked a question about turning my tragedies into comedies and I have had plenty of opportunities to practice this week. I can’t go into all the details now but if you’re interested in going down a rabbit hole I highly recommend checking out the episode from a few weeks back in which I was the musical guest performing songs written by previous Radio8Ball guests, including my cover of Anya’s “Gimme Resurrection”. From the very beginning of that episode the synchronicities were off the charts perfect; predicting break-ups; decoding anti-semitism; reveling in eccentricity. The blowback from something so perfect has been life changing for me and, as you will soon learn, for our show. Surprisingly this blowback came, not from discussions between Jews and Muslims about anti-semitism, as you might expect, but from the cruel and catty world of comedy. And that’s all I can really say about it now. I’m sure there will be more to say in the future but, bringing this back to my opening question, there seems to be a very clear answer emerging with the combination of Anya’s closing song “Sidelines” and today’s randomly chosen Pop Oracle song from the R8B app, Jon Auer’s “Fight It If You Want” which both seem to be saying that if you want comedy don’t engage like it’s tragedy. Just sit back and laugh until the pain subsides and then, if you want, fight. But only if you want.
Thanks to all the guests from Anya’s world who joined our synchromystic explorations. Tomorrow we start a new one with the fabulous ANDREA WITTGENS.

SIDELINES
They say that everyone is special
So much unrealized potential
So why do I feel just like a snowflake in the desert?
I got a million invitations that come with a million reservations
Every time I show up I feel just like a stranger
I’m on the sidelines watching everybody have the time of their life
I’m on the sidelines watching everybody have the time of their life
How’d I end up in this position?
Losing my way, no intuition
So sick of living on an island no one’s heard of I got a healthy fascination with every unhealthy choice
I’m making Feels like I’m missing out on something I’m not sure of
I’m on the sidelines watching everybody have the time of their life
I’m on the sidelines watching everybody have the time of their life
Well, I got a feeling inside I kinda like Yeah I got a feeling I like It’s outta sight
I’m on the sidelines watching everybody have the time of their life
I’m on the sidelines watching everybody have the time of their life
But I’m sick of the sidelines and I’m ready for the time of my life
I’m so sick of the sidelines and I’m ready for the time of my life
I’m so sick of the sidelines and I’m ready for the time of my life
