Linda Grinde
&
Hermina Jean
From ANDRAS JONES: LINDA GRINDE was one of our musical guest HERMINA JEAN‘s high school educators. Now they are artistic peers in the firmament of the Missoula art scene; Linda as an actor and director, and Hermina as a songwriter and musician (of course). Linda’s question for The Pop Oracle harkens back to a previous generation’s poetic inspiration. Today’s episode comes out on the same day British authorities arrested Julian Assange with the intention of extraditing him to the US to face espionage charges. This is what is blowing in the wind today, and Hermina’s lyrics seem to speak directly to this news.
I DID NOT STEAL YOUR LOVE
YOU THREW IT AT ME AND I THREW IT UP
I DID NOT BREAK YOUR HEART
I MADE YOU SAD AND NOW IT’S DARK
Today’s randomly chosen Pop Oracle song from the Radio8Ball app is from My Brave Face, a tribute to the songs of McCartney/Costello, doing their song “Shallow Grave”. This is where journalists and citizens end up in countries that persecute truth tellers.
POP ORACLE Song of The Day (April 11, 2019): MY BRAVE FACE “Shallow Grave”
Trucks
The lights of the trucks
Faded into the hill
I don’t see how they could
But I know I saw it still
Driving down some highway
I looked at your face and it was blank
All the fields on either side
Lost their magic and I wanted to end this ride
I DID NOT STEAL YOUR LOVE
YOU THREW IT AT ME AND I THREW IT UP
I DID NOT BREAK YOUR HEART
I MADE YOU SAD AND NOW IT’S DARK
The lights of the trucks
Faded into the hill
I don’t see how they could
But I know I saw it still
