From ANDRAS JONES: And so we come to the close of our Boston sessions with KAITI JONES, MARY LOU LORD, FUTURE TEENS and STEVE SMITH. Our final Pop Oracle divination with Steve at The Record Co, on what was a really emotionally draining day for all of us, what with the Kavanaugh hearings screaming into the nation’s consciousness, was a short and sweet. I’d recorded 4 episodes in five days and Steve had multiple gigs that week including one big one with Portugal, The Man. We’d both had a couple of glasses of JJ Gonson’s rye whiskey and were ready for sleep but we also wanted to talk more about The Who and other passions we share. Perhaps you’re feeling the same way. Starting tomorrow we’re back in Burbank with the great MYRA FLYNN.
POP ORACLE Song of The Day (December 15, 2018): SANDMAN: THE RAPPIN’ COWBOY “Damascus (Lightning Struck The Tree)”
EMMA
I PUT MY HAND INTO MY POCKET
I FOUND A NUMBER FOR YOU
I DONT KNOW HOW I’M GONNA STOP IT
WE GOT SO MUCH TO LOSE
I KEEP ON ASKING MYSELF QUESTIONS
WHERE WILL THIS HURT EVER END
ITS LIKE WE’RE GOING ROUND IN CIRCLES
I FIND MYSELF HERE AGAIN
OH EMMA
WE KEEP OURSELVES TO OURSELVES
EMMA
I KNOW YOUR HURTING
DON’T LEAVE YOUR HEART ON THE SHELF
DON’T WANT TO BE WITH NO ONE ELSE
I REMEMBER EVER MOMENT
WE SPENT ALONE
A STOLEN KISS ALONG THE RIVER
BUT NOW THOSE DAYS ARE GONE
SO TELL ME WHY THERE’S ALWAYS PROBLEMS
SO TELL ME WHY WE ALWAYS SCREAM
DON’T WANT TO MESS WITH OUR EMOTIONS
I THINK ITS BETTER I LEAVE
