From ANDRAS JONES: Elmore Leonard had a phrase he used in his books. He employed it more than once. Old Elmore would describe a character, one you knew he liked; usually a woman who was harder than she was given credit for; or a guy who was smarter than you thought he was as, “not giving it too much”.
It was his way of saying they were cool.
That’s SYLVIA BLACK. Her guests are all-in but she spent our session on the periphery; suspicious and cool. Like Humphrey Bogart or Lauren Bacall. Not giving it too much. In other words, making it count. Nothing wasted.
I’m the opposite. All I know how to give is too much.
Sylvia’s guests are LYDIA LUNCH, KITTEN NATIVIDAD of Russ Meyer fame, the fabulous Neon, her Berklee College of Music classmate BILLY MOHLER, NICO COCHOU and her accompanist GREGG FOREMAN.
This is our first episode back for Season Two. It was recorded only one day after the last session of Season One. We’re hoping this temporal ticksterism create a sense of continuity and tension that is spacious enough for you, the listener, to fill in with the entirety of your experience. At very least we hope it’s not too disorienting.
I have no idea how long Season Two will last (you might) but I do know it starts here.
TIL WE COME DOWN
There’s a heavy cloud that dropped right down over the water

And its mingling with our human steam to make a monster
