Hélène Renaut
&
Kira Lynn Cain
From ANDRAS JONES: HÉLÈNE RENAUT is our first guest for our session with KIRA LYNN CAIN and she asks a question about one of my favorite artistic phenomenons in which songs act as synchronicity magnets or, as we refer to them in this recording, spells. Hélène is on the run from our studio to her own session before boarding a flight to Europe, rushing through many doors and liminal spaces. This is reflected in Kira’s songs which, as we will note, contain many doors in the lyrics (and in the music). We close this session with “Meet Me At Standing Rock”, a track Hélène contributed to the SAVE YOUR PRAYERS compilation with proceeds going to support the American Civil Liberties Union.
Good
Through a door in a dream
All night I have come
To find nothing true but desire
There’s a well of longing I can drink until I die
Oh until I die
Because I don’t want to be good
I don’t want to be right
I don’t want to be good
The man in the mountain told me I was brave but he never said why
Then he choked up his sorrow made a river and he drowned
Won’t you try to reach me my love, my love
Through the hundred wooden walls between us
Because I don’t want to be good…. etc
