Jessica Vohs
&
Miranda Zeiger
From ANDRAS JONES: JESSICA VOHS and MIRANDA ZEIGER are friends from childhood, bandmates in Willow Willow, and now, collaborators in Pop Oracle synchronicity. Jessica’s question is inspired by a dream and Miranda Zeiger’s song in answer is dreamy in the extreme, complete with purring kittens and elevated feet. This leads to a discussion of Douglas Sirk, Todd Haynes, the Hanged Man card and kundalini practices. A couple things we missed; one which we couldn’t have known and one which was too obvious to see. The one which is so obvious is that these two childhood friends share a “heaven yesterday” that has kept them friends all this time. The other, less obvious, and a bit more of a synch-stretch is the image of the “red hat” in Jessica’s dream. We recorded this on June 18th. On June 22nd the world turned its attention to the “red hen” for being “un-civil” to Sarah Huckabee Sanders who not only advocates for the torture of children but whose name is universally connected to the bad chicken made famous by the plantation colonel whose visage must warm the cockles of those who yearn to make America great by reversing the outcome of the civil war. This is what happens when you uncork a Pop Oracle, it’ll catch whiffs and rhymes of past, present AND the future.
Heaven Yesterday
Heaven
Is drifting off to sleep
Whisper something sweet
Sinking down so deep
Watching comedies
With elevated feet
My baby kitten purring next to me
Heaven
Is a pleasant, heavy sigh
Rainbow in the sky
After a good, long cry
Planning a fun surprise
The knowing in your eyes
That we belong together, you and I
Heaven
I was just there yesterday
But now I feel so far away
Heaven
Even better than they say
Oh, I was just in heaven
Yesterday
Feel so far away
From heaven yesterday
