I See Hawks In LA
From ANDRAS JONES: The final question of our show comes from ROB WALLER of I SEE HAWKS IN L.A. “Will the wolf survive?” was the title to the break out album from the band Los Lobos. It’s also a valid question that leads to some insightful and hysterical responses from the band. It was a joy spending time in the studio with I SEE HAWKS IN L.A. and their friends Mary-Austin Kelly, Paul Body, Tony Gilkyson, Mike Tempo, Paul Gailunas & Bubba Hernandez and I am particularly glad to have closed a loop with the band’s guitarist Paul Lacques whose music and mythology have loomed over my artistic life since I was just a pup.
BALLAD FOR THE TREES
Every age is without precedent
Every hour is the great unknown
Still I wonder if we’ve finally broken with
How to be alone
How to be alone
Have we stripped ourselves of context
Are we drowning in the seas
Of facts that come too easily
And friends we never see
Friends we never see
Here’s a song for the Acacia
Here’s a song for honeybees
Here’s a song just for everyone
Writing down their dreams
Or a ballad for the trees
There’s a wanderer among us
With a battered freeway sign
If her words are blurred by weary purpose
They sound just like goodbye
Sound just like goodbye
There are boats on rising rivers
There are reconvening tribes
While the western winds are gathering
And our seeds take to the sky
Our seeds take to the sky
Chestnut, Oak and Cottonwood, Balsam, Fir and Juniper
Hemlock, Hawthorn, Sassafras
Eastern White Pine in the grass
Here’s a song for the Acacia
Here’s a song for honeybees
Here’s a song just for everyone
Writing down their dreams
Or a ballad for the trees
