From ANDRAS JONES: When I ran into DEBBIE SHAIR at the Wild Honey rehearsal I could tell she was surprised to see me. We were hanging out a bunch with mutual friends and musicians in LA in the early 00’s before I just kind of vanished. And then there I was 16 years later talking about a synchronicity podcast I wanted her to participate in. Great sport that she is, she said yes. In fact, I think she may have been my first yes, which means I dropped her name with all subsequent invites and everyone was like, “If Debbie’s doing it, it must be OK”. So thanks Ms. Shair for sharing your credibility and helping to make this happen. Debbie’s carved out a nifty little career as a session cat since the days when she was kind enough to do some warbling on Andy Shmushkin’s prophetic song, “I Hate My Cell Phone Company”. I get into the name dropp-y details on the show, and there are copious names to drop, but for this show she’s representing the Wild Honeys, an outfit that gives her the opportunity to play alongside legends and friends and, occasionally, do her Yoko Ono impression.
The answer to Debbie’s question comes from CARRIE CLARK, recorded on Radio8Ball in Seattle on April 18, 2008. Carrie was a guest on the show a few different times when we were presenting it in the Emerald City. Carrie continues to tour and record with her band The Lonesome Lovers.
