John Doe

DEAD ROCK WEST
From ANDRAS JONES: This is a REALLY good one. You might even say, we “nailed” it. JOHN DOE returns to the realm of The Pop Oracle (hear his last appearance with FEISTY HEART) with DEAD ROCK WEST, whose last album “More Love” he produced. I love talking with artists and their producers on Radio8Ball. It’s a really intimate relationship that I think most people don’t understand, in part, because (as we discuss here) there are so many different correct ways to do it, and what’s correct for one situation can be totally wrong for another one. John talks about learning how to be a producer from Ray Manzarek, who produced X, and from Ulu Grossbard, the director of the film “Georgia” (good story about that in here). The kismet between Cindy and Frank and their producer is obvious. You can tell they love each other and that’s probably a key ingredient in any producer/band relationship. Then again, Todd Rundgren did a great job on XTC Skylarking and they all hated each other so, like I said, it ain’t a one size fits all situation.
