From ANDRAS JONES: And for our big closing number…This is the 8th and last musical divination of the CHRIS PRICE episode. The 64th and final musical divination of the series of 8 episodes that began with INARA GEORGE on November 6th, 2017. How did we get here? Well, a roller coaster is a pretty good analogy. We’ve been up and down and in and out. Like Schrodinger’s cat, our fate has been a mystery and the greatest task any of us can take on in the face of uncertainty is to do nothing. Breathe and ground and quiet the Iago of our own cruel monkey mind as it whispers sinister plots and vicious motives behind what is mostly the random pull and tug of forces that are as impersonal as they are ineffable. Even though we are bidding adieu to Chris Price today I have a sneaking suspicion we’ll be hearing more from him and his BeBopALula bandmates in the coming weeks, months and years. Thanks to all who participated in this episode, particularly Susanna Hoffs, Azalia Snail, Dutch Cramblitt, Alex Jules, Ben Lecourt & Emeen Zarookian. Next week we’ll be running a Radio8Vault episode featuring musical divinations from the 20 year history of Radio8Ball including Robert Siegel (of NPR’s All Things Considered), Rickie Lee Jones, Jimmy Webb, Natasha Leggero, Tig Notaro, Ethan Gold, Emma Patterson (of the Drinky Fun Time podcast), Rae Spoon, Leah Woldman, Lili Haydn & Allen Toussaint. After that we’ll have 3 new episodes coming up with Abby Weems of the band Potty Mouth, and two more Omnivore Recording artists, Jeffrey Gaines and Dead Rock West. So, basically, keep downloading and listening to our daily podcasts for Starburns Audio and make sure and get any recordings you can from Chris Price. He’s a cat’s cat. Are you a cat?
ROLLER COASTER
I move in close
You walk away
I try to go
You tell me “Please, please stay”
Its a roller coaster
Living with you
I open up
You try to hide
This ride is rough
But I’ll be by your side
On a roller coaster
Only for two
And when we get to the top
There’s gonna be a long, long drop
We might just wanna make it stop
But this can’t be the end
Cause once we’re down in a rut
There’s nowhere else to go but up
We might say we’ve had enough
But when we get to the end we’re gonna wanna do it all again
You’re black and white
I’m shades of gray
Its raining cats and dogs
But its a fine, fine day
For a roller coaster
Living with you
Living with you
On a roller coaster
Living with you
