From ANDRAS JONES: The final Pop Oracle session of ELENI MANDELL‘s Radio8Ball episode arrives swaddled in sync. So much so that it might seem planned but I promise it isn’t. First off, today January 19th, marks the release of Eleni’s new single “I Belong To Someone New” from Yep Rock Records AND the record release of her The Living Sisters bandmate Inara George‘s new album “Dearest Everybody”. The two joined me onstage for the first Radio8Ball of this series of eight, recorded on on November 6, 2017. Both these artists are friends with Alexis Smart, who was on our August 9th show with Colleen Green. I know Alexis from my teens and early 20s when she was dating my friend and bandmate Josh Clayton-Felt. Alexis and I talk sporadically but it’s not a regular thing for her to reach out and say she’s got me on her mind as she did last night. We were on the phone for about 20 minutes before we realized it was exactly 18 years since Josh’s death. Especially considering what’s coming up in tomorrow’s first segment of the Marvin Etzioni episode this synchronicity/psychic phenomenon, still has me feeling between worlds. We are woven together by these strands of synchronicities and it’s tempting to try and make it into something but it doesn’t need making. It is and we are it. Thank you to Eleni and her friends Dino Stamatopoulos, Chuck E. Weiss, Madison Cunningham, John Gold, Leslie Steven and Ron Lynch for being a part of this show. And get ready for the next one, starting tomorrow with Marvin Etzioni and Merlin David, Anthony Ladesich, Helen Rose, Adam Pike and Jonah Tolchin.
Man on Fire
You still have those bright eyes
You still have your spacious skies
Your hands are still dirty and rough
Your hair’s turning gray but you’re still tough
You seek electricity
You still turn the light on in me
Your foot’s out the door but you’re on the top floor
Filled with desire like a man on fire
I still want the good stuff
Your light when it flashes
The sun on my window
I still wanna feel like I’m strong and I’m real
Your laugh and your smile like a man on fire
It’s blue at the hottest point
I wanna feel the heat, I wanna write a different story
You play like a movie
The backdrop, the mountains
Sea to shining sea
Your twists and your turns are just lines that you learned
You were once young and wild then you got burned like a man on fire
