Bloody Death Skull
From ANDRAS JONES: ANDY HERMANN and DAIANA FEUER are both journalists. They met writing about music for The LA Weekly. They, along with many of their colleagues, found themselves wondering about their future with that publication after the Weekly was purchased by Semanal Media, a group consisting largely of conservative attorneys and real estate developers. Hermann wasted no time engaging The Pop Oracle on this topic, and BLOODY DEATH SKULL‘s randomly chosen musical answer is as appropriate for the case of the Weekly as it is for the many institutions Americans have traditionally relied upon in all fields of public and private life, institutions which are currently being dismantled, de-funded and taken over by the forces of intolerance, greed and repression. There is, of course, a potential silver lining in the temporal nature of the answer. The question I’m left with is, will the “hate” we are feeling “right now” grow into feelings of solidarity and fortitude, or devolve into acceptance, apathy and collaboration with the forces that seek to keep us divided and ill-informed? Finish that drink and rise up.
I HATE YOU (RIGHT NOW)
I think I hate you right now
I’ve had three shots of whisky and I don’t expect to stop
I just keep going downstairs and coming back with an empty cup
I think I hate you right now
I think I hate you right now
Oh it’s only because I love you so much
But you drive me crazy, treat me like I’m your mom
That’s not true, you’re so nice to your mom, she has no idea what’s really going on
I think I hate you right now…
