Jeff “The Dude” Dowd
&
Louise Goffin
From ANDRAS JONES: And so we come to the end of Gregorian 2017 with our longest Pop Oracle session to date featuring singer-songwriter LOUISE GOFFIN and her friend JEFF “THE DUDE” DOWD. Before he came to an odd sort of fame as the basis for the Coen Brothers’ Lebowski, Jeff knew another odd kind of fame as part of “The Seattle Seven” in the early 1970’s. One of the leaders of a group of protesters who rallied in support of “The Chicago Seven” (including Bobby Seale, Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin and others who were on trial for conspiracy after the Chicago National Democratic Convention in 1968 ) Dowd was arrested and charged in a trial that lasted several years after which most of the charges were dropped. Who better than a veteran of domestic revolt, counter espionage and a political show trial to spend the waning days of year one of the Trump resistance movement with. Here’s a guy who turned getting arrested for breaking windows in Seattle into a career in Hollywood. Lenny Bruce called it “talking dirty and influencing people”. Abbie Hoffman called it “revolution for the hell of it”. Let’s hear how The Dude describes it.
Here Where You Are Loved
(Billy Harvey & Louise Goffin)
I know you never asked for it
mercy finds you
colors and reminds you
wherever you are
CHORUS
there will always be a yesterday
craving your attention
but I’m right here in the sun
here where you are loved
tho you feel are miles away
looking for direction
I’m right here in the sun
here where you are loved
out the window and the world goes by
taxis and red lights
half of your whole life
wherever you are
there will always be what there will always be
I find my strength in you, you find your strength in me
Repeat Chorus (breakdown “on
there will always be a yesterday”)
I’m right here in the sun
here where you are loved
2x
