Arrington de Dionyso
&
Vivian Cook
From ANDRAS JONES: As we continue our deep, dark, solstice episode of Radio8Ball with singer-songwriter Vivian Cook we are joined by artist/musician/activist Arrington de Dionyso. Arrington, a former KAOS DJ who was targeted by a previous generation of station management and was recently included in an event at Evergreen celebrating “30 years of independence”, uses his time with The Pop Oracle to explore how we treat each other differently at funerals. Citing the example of the overflowing love on display at events memorializing the victims of last year’s Ghost Ship fire, Arrington contrasts this with the general state of “whatever” that we generally have towards people outside of our chosen social cliques. It’s a big picture question about a small town dynamic and Vivian delivers an answer we should all be pondering.

I lost everything last night
Yeah I’m starting to think I might’ve joined a Fight-
Shit, if I did, I almost broke the first and second rule
That wouldn’t be very cool of me
Man, I could use a slurpee, and a 40 and some cigarettes,
Something to chase all these regrets
Yeah I know exactly what you’re thinking
That train of thought always comes round when we’re drinking
C D A F x 2
So let’s do whatever we want
I’m pretty sure it’s legal long as we don’t get caught
Yeah we can do whatever you please
Long as it ends with you on your knees

And I put a little something in my coffee, little something in my beer
That’s how we roll round here
Yeah I’ve been going all night
So you can’t tell me when I’m not alright
Oh you think you’ve finally had enough
Well have you ever tried the really really good stuff
Yeah I could use another hit
And this time, baby, I think you’re it
C D A F x 2
So let’s do whatever we want
I’m pretty sure it’s legal long as we don’t get caught
Yeah we can do whatever you please
Long as it ends with you on your knees

Now here we go again, God, do you think we could at least pretend
There’s something other than you and me
Yeah this time let’s check behind door number three
I’m praying for a mime cuz I’m going fucking crazy talking all the time
Yeah I could use a little time just not to think
I know, I know, I know, shut up and finish my drink.

And we’ll do whatever we want
I’m pretty sure it’s legal long as we don’t get caught
Yeah we can do whatever you please
Long as it ends with you on your knees
Yeah we can do whatever we want
I’m pretty sure it’s legal long as we don’t get caught
Yeah we can do whatever you please
Long as it ends with you on your knees
