Tom Petty Tribute
with
Dan Bern & Paul Zollo

Dan Clark
From ANDRAS JONES: We invited Dan Bern, a songwriter of some note who has been a regular contributor to Radio8Ball over the years, to join our tribute to Tom Petty and he asked a question about an upcoming trip to Florida. His answer was performed by Dan Clark (formerly of the band Duke Daniels) accompanied by several cats he kind of just threw together while everyone was hanging out waiting their turn. If nothing else comes out of this episode, simply getting re-acquainted with this track from Long After Dark was worth it. As for Dan, here’s an e-mail he sent me after the show.

Hey Dan, Thanks for being a part of the show today. Travel safe and well, my friend. Andras
From Dan:
“Great to be part of it. A few minutes ago I found out that I’d screwed up on my itinerary for FL.
And I had more driving once there than I thought.
So I decided to fly after all! Hope that doesn’t upset the Oracle!
To be honest, when I heard the song was called “wasted Life” I actually thought,
hmm, I’m wasting 4 Days by driving.
But I was chicken to say that cause I wanted the Oracle to confirm what I (thought I’d) decided.
So I think the Oracle was right, after all”. Sent from my iPhone
WASTED LIFE
I know you’re walkin’ down lonely street
I know you can’t get out of the heat
Baby, it’s alright
Don’t have a wasted life
I know you have to feel a little used up
And no one can give you enough
Baby hold on tight
Don’t have a wasted life
I love you too much
Don’t have a wasted life
I love you too much
They give it to you from the time you’re born
You keep tryin’ to make one more score
Baby it’s alright
You gotta stand and fight
So when you’re lonely and you feel let down
You can call me I’ll come around
And treat you nice
Don’t have a wasted life
I love you too much uh, uh, uh, don’t have a wasted life
