From Cooper Walker: “I didn’t know what to expect as a guest on Radio8Ball, although I did have the opportunity to experience the show a few times as a musician in the Radio8Band along with my good friend and musical guide, Marshall Thompson. Having gotten to see Andras in action for a few days that week in August, I was reassured by his abilities as host and synchronistic extraordinaire that our segment would run smoothly. These feelings however were quickly interrupted by the opening remarks of our show, as Andras delved into the uncomfortable subject of rape and sexual abuse, speaking on comments made by Diana Prince, a recent Radio8Ball guest… In the end I thought Andras did a remarkable job of tackling a subject most people wouldn’t touch with a 10’ stick and despite some anxiety on my part, the segment turned out to be highly listenable. I’m just glad his song was the one the wheel landed on so I didn’t have to find parallels between my music and sex crimes!”
From Andras: “I’ve heard too many damned rape stories in my life. Here in October of 2017, with #metoo trending everywhere, that seems like a pretty banal statement but on August 10th when we recorded it, my leaning into the question about how to respond when a woman trusts you enough to tell you her rape story, was downright uncomfortable. Even more so because the woman to whom I was referring, Diana Prince, hadn’t explicitly said on the show that she had been raped, but when I checked with her about it she confirmed that her vague comments on the show were exactly as I had intuited and said it was OK to post this (Thanks Diana and…damn, you’re strong). In truth, it wasn’t just Diana’s story I was referring to. Another friend told me a story the night before about a famous actor who had raped her and I think I was just overwhelmed by all of it, much as we all are in the wake of the revelations coming out regarding the experience of the women and men who have been the targets of this kind of thing for most, if not all, of our history”.
KENNY LOGGINS’ BEARD
Kenny Loggins’ beard
had a lot of songs in it
until he had it sheared
since then he hasn’t had a single hit
So auto tune your voice
and quantize your guitar
They say you got no choice
if you wanna be a star but
If you’re really smooth
you don’t need a click track
What ‘cha tryna prove
Come on baby take you’re song back
Baby take your song back
Baby take your song…back
If you’re in the groove
Go and get an 8-track
What ‘cha tryna prove
Come on baby take your song back
And auto tune your voice
and quantize your guitar
They say you got no choice
if you wanna be a star but
If you’re really smooth
you don’t need a click track
Drop the needle in the groove
Baby take your song back.
