From ANDRAS JONES: MIKE RANDLE of Baby Lemonade and LOVE joins our Pop Oracle session with BRITTA PHILLIPS to reminisce about the season we spent hanging in LA. I was impressed with Mike’s playing and his down to earth vibe. He somehow remembered a song called “Nathan Went West” I wrote about Nathanael West, the author of The Day of The Locust, for a project I was working on at the time with Lisa Jenio of the band Candypants. The project was called Smartypants and the idea was a series of songs about great writers who came to Hollywood and got lost in one way or another. Many years have passed since then but the music is still ringing in our ears. Appropriately, Mike’s question is drawn from the well of song and gets a very groovy answer from Britta and her accompanist MARSHALL THOMPSON.
