Rick Bass
&
Caroline Keys
From ANDRAS JONES: RICK BASS is a prolific author and dedicated activist who is thoroughly devoted to the “Yaak”, which is a river region in Montana. Rick turns his Pop Oracle session with CAROLINE KEYS into a plea for back-up. The earth works on a different timetable than we humans do and when you are committed to protecting the trees and animals and water against the constant onslaught of profit motives and the lies of industry it can get overwhelming. I can hear that in Rick’s voice in this episode. I didn’t clue into it in my interpretation but his reading suggests that what he needs is a big musical party. This is amplified by today’s randomly chosen Pop Oracle song of the day from the R8B App with Ian Moore‘s song “Belle My Butterfly” which amplifies the theme of nature and the parable of the cumulative effect of small actions, like one wave of a butterfly wing. You can find out more about the Yaak at The Yaak Valley Forest Council.
POP ORACLE Song of The Day (April 3, 2019): IAN MOORE “Belle My Butterfly”
Midnight Summer Jam
They’ll come spilling out of Charlie’s
any minute now
any minute now
Someone should take her car keys
she’ll probably hit a cow
they’re all black anyhow
It’s after 2 but I ain’t tired
so throw another table leg on the fire
and I’ll play the songs you like
jukebox until first light
cause I never was a dancer
I ain’t out back ’cause I’m under age
I’m just not ready for the stage
and a song’s the only answer
The sky was black and starry
like a parking lot
full of broken glass
And there’s 3 girls trying to go home with Benji
he says “either they’ll get cozy
or they’ll kick my ass”
Now this one’s wrestling the bartender
while I refuse to play John Denver
But I might play some Ween,
Whitesnake, or Bon Jovi
’cause a song’s the only answer
Why would you ever leave?
I got fifty Dead tunes up my sleeve
and I never was a dancer
