From ANDRAS JONES: Radio8Ball boldly goes where no podcast has gone before; a synchronistic adventure into the world of the new STAR TREK DISCOVERY via the format of musical divination with our guest songwriter, Release Me Records recording artist, ALEX LILLY and her trombone accompanist Vikram Devasthali. Over the course of this episode we are joined by three members of the cast of the CBS series; ANTHONY RAPP (Lt. Commander Paul Stamets), MARY WISEMAN (Ensign Sylvia Tilly) & DOUG JONES (Commander Saru) followed by a few experts to explore the more esoteric aspects of the world of Discovery. These are LONI JEAN RONNEBAUM of the Fungi Perfecti organization, founded by world famous mycologist PAUL STAMETS whose work informs the mycelial web and spore drive on Discovery; AUSTIN HAYDEN SMIDT of the Show Me The Meaning podcast to explore the philosophical strands in season one, and finally the return of INARA GEORGE to talk about her “grandmother” singing the soprano part on the original Star Trek theme. I start it all off in this segment with a question about getting close to being cast as Wesley Crusher in Start Trek: Next Generation back when I was a teen actor in Hollywood, and how things would be altered for me and Wil Wheaton if things had gone differently. Join us, won’t you, as we take a trip on this magic swirling ship.
It’s worth noting that today’s randomly chosen song from the R8B app has a couple of interesting synchronicities. First there is the name of the band THE OWLS, and the name of philosophy podcast Austin Hayden Smidt co-hosts is called Owls At Dawn. Then we have the title of the song which, if continued as its sung goes “All those in favor changing their minds…” which perfectly sums up the message of the mycelium and their fungal messengers. Turn on. Tune In. Step Up!
POP ORACLE Song of The Day (February 26, 2019): THE OWLS “All Those In Favor”
CONFUCIUS SAYS
Every week i go in and talk about my life
She’s taking notes and I feel justified
And I tell her how hard i try
She’s like a friend
I ask her: why why why?
Is there a point when it’s just rude to cry and cry?
And she follows me with this line:
“put your hands away it’s just no use to even try…
Confucius says you want it you want it you got your fingers on it, you don’t got it til it’s gone. it follows you all through the night”
oh oh oh I can be so mean, don’t wanna be cold inside
out-freeze the ice or destroy a nice guy
midnight sits upon her shoulder, she looks me in the eye
Confucius says you want it you want it you got your fingers on it, you don’t got it til it’s gone. it follows you all through the night”
Denying, drinking, lying, constant thinking
All I did was waste more time
Now I won’t try to find the line in between
true art and lies
luxury and pride
cheap attention and writing esoteric novels no one ever ever buys
Confucius says you want it you want it you got your fingers on it, you don’t got it til it’s gone. it follows you all through the night”
