Amos Glick
&
Ira Marlowe
From ANDRAS JONES: AMOS GLICK is one of my oldest friends. We went to high school together in Massachusetts and were in our first band together with our fellow classmate PETER D’ELIA. The band was called The Three Clean Boys. Not a great name but we were young enough not to care and we had a blast making music to entertain ourselves and our friends. Amos and Pete would wind up living in San Francisco through most of the 90’s when my band was touring the west coast regularly and we got to see a lot of each other. This was about the time when I introduced Amos to IRA MARLOWE and they ended up working together, which brings us to today and Amos’s Pop Oracle session with Ira and me at The Monkey House in Berkeley to explore what used to be called “middle age”.
POP ORACLE Song of The Day (January 30, 2019): SHMUSHKIN “Anya Marina”
THE WILDERNESS YEARS
Out on the wilds
Out on the road
You’ve seen them bend beneath their load
And in their dark
They see no dawn
They hardly know how far they’ve gone
Raise up your glass
Those were the wilderness years
Those were the wilderness years that led you home
Drink to the past
Thank her for gettin’ you here
For all the days you gave away
She paid you dear
There was a younger man
He spoke of many things
He heard a call that drove him on
Those endless days
That mirrored maze
Where every road you tried was wrong
chorus
Paid you in trouble, paid you in tears
Paid you in love with a box on the ears
Paid you in faith or whatever you found
While you screamed at the sky
with your back to the ground
chorus
Those were the wilderness years
