Kaiti Jones
From ANDRAS JONES: Today we begin a series of 4 R8B sessions recorded in the Boston area this fall. That’s 32 individual musical divinations that took place during the week of the Brett Kavanaugh hearings which saw our country place an accused rapist, who shouted Republican conspiracy theories and threats during his confirmation, on the highest court in the land. That’s not all or even most of what we talk about but it’s what was in the air while the proverbial tape was rolling and you may hear a hint of it in the subtext of my question captured here with our musical guest KAITI JONES. Kaiti came to our attention at the recommendation of AUBREY HADDARD who almost did the show but had to bow out. While it would have been nice to do a show Aubrey, and I hope we will in 2019, Kaiti was a real treat to have on the show. With very little time to do so she lined up 6 in-studio guests including a few of her fellow singer-songwriters, a couple of people she works with at The Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, and some folks from her church. If you follow along with us this week you’ll hear from HARRISON COBB, MAGGIE SLINEY, TREVOR BLACK, MATT HENDERSON, LINDSEY SAMPSON & HAYLEY SABELLA. Please subscribe to us and you’ll get one of these every day.
MYSTIC
Am I a mystic
or am I a missing person
Am I good, am I grown
Oh my God am I alone
And did I love you,
Or did I leave you
Or did I greave you
Did I
Am I a conscience
or just a consequence of context
Am I wrong, am I raw
Does my body break the law
Did I teach you,
or did I tease you,
did I please you
Did I
Am I a sister
or just a system of a system
Am I shrewd, am I sure, did I rap upon the door
And did I heed you
Or did I lead you,
Did I need you
Did I
Am I a mystic, or am I a missing person
Is it God that we’ve found, in our temples on the ground
And did I love you,
Did I love you,
Did I love you
Did I
