From ANDRAS JONES: When I first met DAVID GOODSTEIN in preparation for All Day Sucker’s appearance on Radio8Ball I thought he was a drummer who could sing harmony but I soon realized he’s actually a singer who can play everything. Well, maybe not everything but drums? Check. Guitar? Check. Bass? Yup. I’m pretty sure if I tossed a clarinet in his direction he’d find some way to make it sound like a clarinet should. It was great having him back on the show all on his own to talk Wild Honey, All Day Sucker and the music he loves.
David’s answer from the Radio8Ball app is a repeat of a song that came up earlier in this episode, VEDA HILLE‘S “Lover Hater” recorded live in Olympia on Febraury 22, 2017. As I said in the session, there are over 1700 songs in the app so the odds of a repeat are very long. That in itself is a nifty sync worth noting. Lover Hater? Heroes & Villains? It makes you think that if we’re here with David Goodstein what’s David Badstein up to?
LOVER HATER
by Veda Hille
This is how things get over
Not with a bang but with a whimper
Lover hater hater lover
Lover hater hater lover
This is how things get better
Hold your breath and wait for summer
Lover hater hater lover
Lover hater hater lover
Where is the best thing now?
If you can’t remember, is it gone?
Was it ever if it’s done?
Lover hater hater lover
Lover hater hater lover
Where is the best thing now?
I guess I put it in the ground
I will carve a record out for you
Out of a solid block of vinyl
I will carve it like they used to
With a hammer and a chisel and a rifle
I will make a record just for you
I will make it like the old days
Just as good as I can do
With an ugly concentration on my face
Sha la la sha la la
Sha la la sha la la
Sha la la sha la la
Absence makes the heart grow fonder
So stay away a ltitle longer
Lover hater hater lover
Lover hater hater lover
Is this how things get better?
Should I give you back your sweater?
Lover hater hater lover
Lover hater hater lover
Where is the best thing now?
I guess I put it in the ground
I will carve a record out for you
Out of a solid block of vinyl
I will carve it like they used to
With a hammer and a chisel and a rifle
I will make a record just for you
I will make it like the old days
Just as good as I can do
I will put everything back into its place
Sha la la sha la la
Sha la la sha la la
Sha la la sha la la
