Eleni Mandell
From ANDRAS JONES: We begin our Pop Oracle session with ELENI MANDELL with a segment that might be titled, “Middle aged hipster Jews trying to remember the 90’s” as I try and figure out when exactly it was that Eleni used to intimidate me and my band from behind the bar at The Highland Grounds. As this episode spools out we will be joined by Dino Stamatopoulos, Chuck E. Weiss, Madison Cunningham, John Gold, Leslie Steven and Ron Lynch, all of them characters from Eleni’s life. This is one of our more intimate episodes and by the end of it you’ll know Eleni Mandell a lot better. I do.
SOMEONE TO LOVE LIKE YOU
When I was young and full of doubt I would dream
Lips much to red and hair to dark, that was me
Hoping that someone would notice me standing around
And finally look at me, I could be
Someone to love, oooh
Someone to love, like you
Bad boy with your motorbike rumbling around on the streets
Sad boy with your story so worn out, like pencil on newspaper
Hoping that someone would notice him standing around
And finally look and see he could be
Someone to love, ooh
Someone to love, we two
Some people do, some people never do
Some people can(t) and some people never stop trying
Looking back, wish I could tell myself it’s better to be (just let it be)
Don’t bother knocking the doors are locked
But I have a skeleton key
Hoping that someone would notice you standing around
Finally look and see, now we’re free
Someone to love…
